PI-26 is legislation that requires Academic and Career Planning for all students in grades 6-12 to take place in all public schools in the State of Wisconsin beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. At TWC, we are proud to report that we and our high school have implemented Academic and Career Planning for many years and therefore already have a strong foundation on which to develop these mandated Academic and Career Plans.
Students will be involved in a variety of activities to fully develop their ACPs.
Families play an important role in this whole process of helping their youth become college and career ready. We strongly encourage ongoing family discussions regarding your student's academic/career goals and plans.

- Pupil Academic Standards
All subjects and content matter taught at Trevor-Wilmot School are based on the Wisconsin State Standards and Common Core Standards, and are approved by the School Board. All standards are referenced on the the District’s Curriculum page along with parent and student friendly "I Can Statements."
As a result of recent federal legislation (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act - AHERA), each primary and secondary school in the nation is required to complete a stringent inspection for asbestos and to develop a plan of management for all asbestos-containing building materials. Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District has a goal to be in full compliance with this law and is following the spirit, as well as the letter of the law. As a matter of policy, the district shall continue to maintain a safe and healthful environment for our community's youth and employees.
In keeping with this legislation, all buildings (including portables and support buildings) owned or leased by Trevor-Wilmot School were inspected by EPA accredited inspectors and samples were analyzed by an independent laboratory. Based on the inspection, the school prepared, and the state approved, a comprehensive management plan for handling the asbestos located within its buildings safely and responsibly.
Furthermore, Trevor-Wilmot School has completed their 3-Year Re-inspection required by AHERA. Our district buildings, where asbestos-containing materials were found, are under repair, removal and Operations and Maintenance.
This past year Trevor-Wilmot School conducted the following with respect to its asbestos containing building materials:
- Continued our Operations and Maintenance Program
- Appointed Pat Elrod the "Designated Person" for managing the asbestos maintenance program
Federal law requires a periodic walk-through (called "surveillance") every six months of each area containing asbestos. In addition, the law requires all buildings to be re-inspected every three years after a management plan went into effect. MacNeil Environmental, Inc will accomplish this under contract.
Short-term workers (outside contractors - i.e., telephone repair workers, electricians and exterminators) must be provided information regarding the location of asbestos in which they may come into contact. All short-term workers shall contact the district's Designated Person before commending work to be given this information.
Trevor-Wilmot School has a list of the location(s) and type(s) of asbestos containing materials found in that school building and a description and timetable for their proper management. A copy of the Asbestos Management Plan is available for review in the school office. Copies are available at 25 cents per page. Questions related to the plan should be directed to Pete Scheckel, Facilities Director.

Annual Notification of Rights The Family Right & Privacy Act of 1974, as amended (otherwise known as FERPA) sets forth requirements regarding the privacy of student records. FERPA governs release of records maintained by a school district as well as access to those records. This notice explains the rights of parents with respect to student educational records, and outlines the District's procedures to comply with FERPA. Parents have the right to:
1. Inspect and review the student's educational records. Requests to inspect records should be directed to a school administrator.
2. Seek amendment of the student's educational records that the parent believes to be inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise in violation of the student's privacy rights. Requests to amend records should be directed to a school administrator.

The District maintains the right to disclose educational records to other school officials, including teachers, within the school district who have been determined to have legitimate educational interests in the records. School officials are certified staff and have a legitimate educational interest if the record information sought will, if disclosed, assist the official in providing education or other related services to the student.
4. File a complaint with the Family Policy Compliance Office of the United States Department of Education alleging that the District is not in compliance with FERPA requirements. The address of this office is: Family Policy Compliance Office, U.S. Department of Education, 400 Maryland Avenue SW, Washington, DC 20202-4605.

Please note that during our recent round of lead and copper testing at the Addition side of the Building one faucet has come back with an elevated copper result. All of the other faucets came back within normal parameters; however, in the interest of public safety, we will be performing additional testing and study to correct this problem. In addition, we are not using that faucet until the problem is rectified.
Please note this additional action should also be taken. “Water coming from some outlets in this facility may have elevated levels of lead and/or copper. Always flush the faucet before using the water for drinking or cooking."
Here is a Copper Public Education Program brochure with more information.
Thank you
