Mental health is essential to everyone’s overall health and well-being, and mental illnesses are common and treatable.
• While 1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness during their lifetime, everyone faces challenges in life that can impact their mental health.
• The COVID-19 pandemic has had profound impacts on the mental health of people of all ages, and now more than ever it is critical to reduce the stigma around mental health struggles that commonly prevents individuals from seeking help.
• There are practical tools that everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase resiliency, regardless of the situations they are dealing with.
• It’s important to accept the situations in life that we cannot change, actively work to process the mental struggles associated with big changes, manage anger and frustration, recognize when trauma may be affecting your mental health, challenge negative thinking patterns, and make time to take care of yourself.
• Knowing when to turn to friends, family, and co-workers when you are struggling with life’s challenges can help improve your mental health.
• One way to check in with yourself is to take a mental health screen at MHAscreening.org. It’s a quick, free, and private way for someone to assess their mental health and recognize signs of mental health problems.
• Living a healthy lifestyle and incorporating mental health tools to thrive may not be easy but can be achieved by gradually making small changes and building on those successes.
• Seeking professional help when self-help efforts to improve your mental health aren’t working is a sign of strength, not weakness.
• The Tools 2 Thrive that work best for one person may not work for another. Recovery is a unique and personal journey that requires trial and error to determine what works best for each individual.
MAY 12, 2021-Suicide and Self Harm Prevention Training Slideshow by Leah Featherstone.
You might not realize this but, Wisconsin has ranked among the top 5 states in the nation for the most intentional self harm claims in ages 6-22 and during the pandemic intentional self harm claims for the 13-18 age group increased 100% from March 2019-2020. Fortunately, everyone can play a role in the prevention of suicide and self harm. APRIL 8th, 2020 2:00 PM - Video Message from Dr. Garven
Please open the following link for a Road to Return video update from Dr. Garven.
TWC is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. You can access Zoom from a computer/laptop, iPad/tablet, or by phone (dial in or with the free app). Zoom offers a free app or download for each of the above devices. If you are using Google Chrome you may be asked to sign in, this can be avoided by using incognito mode. You can also use Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
Today we received notification from a parent that their student received a COVID-19 test with a positive result. Because of those results, we are taking the following steps to ensure that all students and staff are following recommendations from the Kenosha Health Department to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. We appreciate their partnership as we continue to work through this pandemic together. We are sharing the following information with all of our families so that we can keep everyone informed. Individuals that have been determined to be a close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, will receive an additional letter with instructions this evening. We have planned for cases of COVID in our building and appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as we implement our Learning from Home plans.
One 8th grade homeroom is being moved to Learning at Home and asked to Self-Quarantine effective today, February 22, 2021. The approach to quarantine is a result of being a close contact with the student. Those students and staff will be returning to our building on March 2nd. Students in any other Trevor-Wilmot grades who have siblings in the 8th grade cohort do not have to quarantine at this time and should still report to school.
Self-Quarantine means that:
Your child must stay out of the public and stay home
Your child must not attend social gatherings or sports events, including both indoor and outdoor activities
Do not use public transportation, ride-sharing, or taxis
Do not travel, even within the local community
Advise your child to wash their hands often and practice good hygiene
Postpone all non-essential medical appointments until your child is out of quarantine. Notify your child’s healthcare provider of your child’s exposure to COVID-19 to determine how the healthcare provider would like to proceed
Your child should minimize contact with others in the home and, when possible, stay in his/her own room and use his/her own bathroom.
Your child should not share personal household items such as dishes, towels, and bedding.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this situation, please do not hesitate to contact me or the Kenosha County Health Department at any time. We continue to appreciate your cooperation as the success of this school year depends on all of us working together to ensure everyone’s safety.

COVID-19 FEBRUARY 9, 2021
At Trevor-Wilmot we have strong protocols and practices in place to mitigate the risk of Covid-19 and keep our school open. However, we can not prevent all risks.
We are following the CDC guidelines of a 10 day quarantine following a close contact, beginning from the last contact with a person that tested positive for Covid-19. If individuals develop symptoms during that time, they will be asked to extend quarantine until they are well for 24 hours.
Our contact tracing identified individuals that were within 6 feet of the positive person for more than 15 minutes (cumulative time) and/or in the same room for over 15 minutes due to the nature of their job.
We appreciate your patience as we continue to navigate the final stages of this pandemic together. Please reach out to any member of the leadership team with questions.

COVID-19 FEBRUARY 8, 2021
PRESS RELEASE
February 8, 2021 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Due to a recent exposure of a COVID-19 positive case, the Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District will shift exclusively to remote learning effective Tuesday, February 9, 2021, the district announced today.
This adjustment will continue until Tuesday, February 16, 2021, said District Administrator Dr. Michelle Garven.
"Although we continue to follow the protocols and procedures in the Road to Return, there are times when an individual’s extent of exposure extends across the entire school and a shift to Learning at Home is warranted. Student safety continues to remain at the forefront of all decisions in our school community. We continue to appreciate the support and cooperation of the Kenosha County Health Department and our school families as we continue to work through this pandemic together."
The Kenosha County Division of Health is working with the school to assist in identifying close contacts of the positive cases. Close contacts include those who:
Had direct physical contact with an infected individual (e.g.: a hug or handshake).
Were within six feet of any of a COVID-19-positive individual for more than 15 minutes.
Had contact with respiratory secretions from an infected individual (e.g.: were coughed/sneezed on, had contact with dirty tissue, or shared a drinking glass, food or towels or other personal items.
Those who did not receive a phone call from the Division of Health or a close contact letter from Trevor-Wilmot were likely not in contact with the COVID-19-positive individual and are therefore not considered to be in a higher-risk group.
Close contacts are asked to quarantine for 10 to 14 days from the last date of exposure to a COVID-19-positive individual. The shorter, 10-day quarantine is only recommended for those who have not experienced any COVID-19 symptoms during that time. Quarantined close contacts are asked to quarantine from all extracurricular activities including sports and childcare facilities.
Parents are urged to monitor their students and other family members for any COVID-19 symptoms, including but not limited to: Fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, fatigue, headaches, etc. Those who do become symptomatic should call their health care provider.
“While everyone’s attention has shifted to vaccination, it’s important to remember that the COVID-19 virus is still very much alive in our community,” said Kenosha County Health Officer Dr. Jen Freiheit. “We are still very much in the mode of wearing masks, social distancing, avoiding gatherings and making sure we stay home if we feel sick.”

DATE: November 12, 2020
EVENT: Kenosha County Emergency Management COVID-19 Virus
LOCATION: County of Kenosha
Today, the Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District received notification from a family that a student received a COVID-19 test with a Positive result. The district has also been in contact with a staff member that is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms consistent with a positive test. This is the second and third case of the virus reported to the district since students returned to learning on September 1st.
These individuals are presently in isolation, per Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Kenosha County Division of Health recommendations. The Kenosha County Division of Health has been working with the school to assist in identifying and reaching close contacts of these individuals, who will also be required to quarantine for 14 days from the last date of exposure. Close contacts include those who:
Had direct physical contact with any of the infected individuals (e.g.: a hug or handshake).
Were within six feet of any of the COVID-19-positive individuals for more than 15 minutes.
Had contact with respiratory secretions from any of the infected individuals (e.g.: were coughed/sneezed on, had contact with dirty tissue, or shared a drinking glass, food or towels or other personal items.
Those who did not receive a phone call from the Division of Health or a close contact letter from Trevor-Wilmot were likely not in contact with the COVID-19-positive individual and are therefore not considered to be in a higher-risk group.
Middle school (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) students and homeroom teachers are being moved to Learning at Home and are asked to Self-Quarantine effective November 12, 2020. The approach to quarantine is a result of close contacts within a student cohort and close contacts with homeroom teachers that is creating a staffing shortage for our school. All students and staff will be returning to our building on Monday, November 30, 2020.
District Administrator Dr. Michelle Garven said, “We continue to follow the protocols and practices from our Road to Return framework. We continue to work in collaboration with the Kenosha County Division of Health to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. We appreciate their partnership as we continue to work through this pandemic together. We have planned for cases of COVID-19 in our building and appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as we move to our Learning from Home plans.”
Parents are urged to monitor their students and other family members for any COVID-19 symptoms, including but not limited to: Fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, fatigue, headaches, etc. Those who do become symptomatic should call their health care provider.
“It is essential to stay home if you’re sick, to isolate if you’ve tested positive for COVID-19 or if you’re waiting for a test result, and to quarantine if you’ve had close contact with a positive case,” said Kenosha County Health Officer Dr. Jen Freiheit. “I’m grateful to the Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District for putting these protocols in place to help control the spread of the virus.”

Today I was made aware of threats that were made in the community over the weekend between students. I reported this to the local sheriff department and at this time we believe there is no credible threat to our students and staff. We have planned for cases of COVID in our building and appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as we implement our Learning from Home plans.
All 7th grade students and homeroom teachers are being moved to Learning at Home and asked to Self-Quarantine effective September 29, 2020.
All 8th grade students will be moving to Learning at Home, due to the 8th grade homeroom teachers being asked to Self-Quarantine as they routinely collaborate with 7th grade homeroom teachers. This has created a staffing shortage for our school. All students and staff will be returning to our building on Thursday, October 8, 2020. Students in grades K4-6th grade who have siblings in those grades do not have to quarantine at this time and should still report to school.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this situation, please do not hesitate to contact me or the Kenosha County Health Department at any time. We continue to appreciate your cooperation as the success of this school year depends on all of us working together to ensure everyone’s safety.

August 26th, 2020 - UPDATE
Please see the following links for a video update from the District Administrator, the Back to School Framework, and the 2020-2021 Parent/Student Handbook.
Due to the potential for civil unrest in Kenosha as well as potentially surrounding areas, we will be holding our board meeting tonight fully virtual. No one will be in the school. Several staff live in the Kenosha area and we are wanting safety for all.

Hello to our TWC staff and families,
I am sending out a copy of the short slideshow containing the planning document that was discussed at last night's board meeting. Please keep in mind the document is still in draft form. We are awaiting several important updates from the Department of Health Services that may alter several sections of this plan.
Although our return to in-person learning may not be perfect, and I know there are many questions that still need answers, I know we can do this together. I continue to look forward to partnering with you throughout this process.

Topic: Special Board Meeting
Time: Aug 11th, 2020 7:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)
It is with great sadness that I share the news of Mrs. Cook’s resignation as the Principal of our school. Since joining us in January of 2019, Mrs. Cook worked effortlessly to make sure that every student and staff member felt loved, appreciated, and noticed for their abilities. She developed a creative building wide schedule, drafted new district truancy policies and worked tirelessly to support the entire community through her energetic spirit.
Our School Board met during a special board meeting last night and approved the following administrative changes to appropriately staff the building for the 2020-2021 school year:
Tracy Donich, Principal/Director of Curriculum & Instruction
Jenny Loveless, Assistant Principal/Director of Pupil Services
Tracy will handle the day to day operations, while Jenny will handle student discipline. I will take care of communication, public relations, bussing and Kids Club issues that were previously part of the Principal role.
The decision to reorganize within was made for several reasons; primarily the trust built within the current administrative staff with our learning community and the skill set they hold. This plan will be evaluated with monthly and quarterly checkpoints to ensure that our students, staff and families needs continue to be met.
Although this news may come as a shock to some of you, I can assure you that operations at TWC will continue to move forward in support of keeping students' needs at the forefront of our mission.
I would like to thank Mrs. Cook for her service to our district. We wish her well in her future endeavors.
After much discussion with area school districts and following recommendations by health officials it has been decided, there will be no fall sports for the 2020 season. These sports include softball and cross-country. Area schools will convene in September to further discuss and decide on the inter league play of Girls and Boys Basketball and Cheer.
Thank you for your understanding regarding these difficult decisions and for your continued patience and support during these challenging times.
If you have any questions, please contact Kerrie Shurtleff. Athletic Director at: ShurtleffKM@twc.k12.wi.us.
As planning continues for the 2020-2021 school year, I want to share new information after a discussion with the school board last night. The discussion centered around back to school instructional models for fall. The Leadership Team and School Board had three goals that guided our discussion:
Safety for all students and staff.
Instructional Goal: Students do not fall behind in the core academic areas.
Social Emotional Goal: Safe learning environment in mind and body.
With those goals in mind, the district is prepared to navigate working with our students, staff and the community as the pandemic continues. We will be moving forward with planning for in-person instruction September 1st, as our building and campus allows the social distancing recommended for our current student population. There are two variances to the in-person model as follows:
4 day schedule with Wednesday off to deep clean the building, allow for professional development, planning time and individual work with students and families. There is also a review and “phase in” to 5 days during the holiday break and a removal of the current Friday half days from the calendar.
5 day schedule using the traditional calendar with additional professional development, planning time and family support front loaded in August, with additional cleaning each evening.
Attached is a Google survey for all families to provide input on the two variances of the model. We will continue to use Kenosha County’s guidance on masks in schools. Keep in mind, there are six weeks until the start of school; conditions may change and our planning will continue to be nimble and include pivot points.
Thanks to all of the parents who are participating in the focus groups with the Leadership Team members. We appreciate your help.
Thank you for taking the time to complete the brief survey sent out last week regarding the reopening of our school. We will be using this information in our planning to accommodate students safely in our building using one of the proposed models. I would also like to share the data collected thus far for question number one:
As I mentioned previously, the Leadership Team is working to frame our school’s plan to reopen. I would like to thank those parents and caregivers who have included their name and phone number in the survey. You will be contacted this week with available dates and times for parent committees and focus groups. Your concerns and perspectives are valued by the district.
Last Friday, our local health department provided guidance for school districts on mask use. I am providing it here for all parents reference. I continue to ask for your patience, as the details of our full reopening plan will be available the last week in July. Thank you for your continued support during this unprecedented time.
Sincerely,
Michelle M. Garven, Ph.D.
June 29, 2020 3:35 PM
Dear TWC Families,
The Leadership Team is currently working diligently to frame our school’s reopening plan for fall. With the support of the TWC School Board and use of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s publication entitled Education Forward: Safely and Successfully Reopening Wisconsin Schools, two models are being planned for implementation. The first model involves all students being present in the building with Covid-19 safety guidelines in place. The second model involves a hybrid learning environment which combines learning at home and in person instruction at school. I know that you may have many questions regarding these models. I am asking that you reserve those questions for two weeks, as more work is needed and detailed information will be forthcoming.
I would also ask that you take a few minutes to fill out the survey that is being sent out via email to all families. We will begin using this information as we continue planning to welcome our students back to school this fall. We will also continue to work with our local leaders and state officials to monitor the virus and will change our plans accordingly if necessary. Thank you for your continued support during this unprecedented time.
Sincerely,
Michelle M. Garven, Ph.D.
June 23th, 2020 10:30 AM
Dear TWC Families,
Yesterday, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction released a detailed publication entitled Education Forward: Safely and Successfully Reopening Wisconsin Schools. This guide has been designed to provide school districts the key information needed to plan and implement a safe, efficient and equitable return to school for students and staff. At Trevor-Wilmot, we continue to work with local and state officials to plan the reopening of our school. This planning process must be thoughtful and nimble as new information continues to emerge. We appreciate your patience and partnership as we work through all of the information together.
We will be reaching out to our families in the near future with surveys, as well as opportunities to serve on committees regarding reopening protocols and procedures. Your participation will help guide our planning to safely reopen in the age of COVID-19. Thank you for your continued support during this unprecedented time. We are excited to have our students and families back in the building in a safe learning environment.
Sincerely,
Michelle M. Garven, Ph.D.

Statement from Trevor Wilmot Consolidated School District on Racism, Violence & Injustice
As a leadership team we stand together with the Leadership Team at Wilmot Union High School District, seeking to improve the education of our students so that they can experience life-long success. I have worked closely with other members of our leadership team and we draw on our collective strength to collaborate, problem-solve, and advocate for our school community. Our district's equity statements are stated on our website and are practiced in our everyday work with students and families.
Recent events in America have been a devastating reminder of the obstacles that our students, particularly our black students, face. Acts of violence against George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor underscore the unshakable problem of race and discrimination that continue to cripple the progress and spirit of our country.
We condemn these acts and join the chorus of voices across the public and private sector that are demanding systemic change to address the acts of violence against black people in America. Each of these acts is an assault not only on the individuals, their families and communities, they are also an assault on the soul of our country and the ideals that we seek to instill in our students. Our hearts weep for the families of the victims. Our hearts are heavy knowing that our students are profoundly affected by what we are all experiencing.
We remain committed to ensuring that barriers are eliminated in order to ensure all of our students receive the resources and support that they need to succeed at the highest levels as they advance through our school system. We will continue to work in concert to identify and dismantle systems that are an obstacle to our students' success.
Advancing Education Together,
Michelle M. Garven, Ph.D.
District Administrator
June 1st, 2020 3:36 PM
Dear TWC Families,
I would like to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has stepped up over the past couple of weeks to support the students, staff, and families of Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District. It has been extremely encouraging to see our residents, schools, businesses, and organizations come together during this time of crisis.
Even while our buildings are closed, work behind the scenes continues. Our teachers are continuously preparing opportunities and resources for their students and families as we make the transition to summer. Our local district administrators are continuing to meet weekly, collaborating on all decisions that affect our community. School districts are receiving guidance from the Kenosha County Health Department and the Department of Health Services on ways to best serve our families. Plans for the fall are being developed by district administrators with the help of local and regional cooperative educational service agencies (CESAs).
To our teachers and staff, we sincerely appreciate all your efforts to check in with students, provide important educational resources, and make sure everyone is doing OK. Our students and families will continue to turn to you for guidance and a sense of normalcy as we move forward.
To our parents and guardians, thank you for your patience and understanding as we have worked to navigate an unprecedented situation. We know that the school closures have been incredibly challenging for you and your loved ones. Please know that we are thinking about you and are here to help.
A few important items to finish out the year:
New academic instruction ended on Friday May 29; please continue to refer to your child’s teacher for check out information.
The last day of school is a half day on June 10. We ask that all check out processes be completed by that time, including materials pick-up/drop off.
The School’s Meal Delivery Program will end on the last day of school, June 10th, 2020. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, children who usually get free or reduced price school meals through the National School Lunch Program can instead get temporary food benefits. These benefits are called Pandemic EBT or P-EBT. You can learn more about this program by going to this website. (https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/eligible-food-items).
We have a long road ahead of us, but from what we have seen from our community in recent days, I know we will come out of this situation stronger than ever. Once again, thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michelle Garven
May 20, 2020 10:00 PM
Dear TWC Families,
As a school district, we have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and its
impact on in-person events, including graduation, end-of-the-year item return/pickup, and summer school. In an effort to keep you informed, we wanted to share our most recent updates with you.
End of the School Year
The TWC staff will be using the remainder of the school year to connect with each family
and provide individualized appointments to address academic and social-emotional needs, continue to gather feedback on virtual learning experiences and prepare families for next steps. Academic Instruction will be coming to a close beginning the week of May 29, 2020.
Item Pick-Up/Drop-Off
Mrs. Cook is working with the staff on a plan that allows for an efficient exchange of items
while still practicing social distancing. This pick up is scheduled to take place the week of
June 8th. A detailed schedule will follow closer to that date.
Graduation
Our 8th grade graduation ceremony will take place virtually the evening of June 4th. Details will be sent out to 8th grade families in the coming days. We will also be hosting an in-person celebration in July or August, if health and safety conditions allow for large public gatherings. We believe this two-fold approach helps to honor our graduates by bringing closure to the school year, while also providing an opportunity for a public community celebration if we can host such an event safely.
Summer School
We will be conducting a virtual summer school (July 27 through August 14) for grades KG-8. Please watch for an email within the next few weeks which will contain a Google Survey to collect data on whether your child(ren) will be attending our virtual summer school, registration information, and course selection. To provide adequate staffing, please make sure you fill out the survey.
Thank you for your patience and continuous support during this unprecedented time.
Michelle M. Garven, Ph.D.
Together with families and communities, our mission is to create a student-centered, equity based, comprehensive learning environment fostering personal and academic excellence.

April 16, 2020 2:30PM
Dear TWC Families,
Today Governor Evers extended the "Safer at Home Order" through May 26th and confirmed that schools will remain closed through the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
There are many emotions connected with this announcement and I continue to keep all of you in my thoughts. There are also many details that need to be discussed and worked through over the coming days and weeks. In the meantime, we will continue to support our students and families with Learning from Home and our lunchtime meal delivery in the community. We will continue to provide information as it becomes available.
Thank you for your partnership during this global crisis. We continue to be a strong wolfpack together.
Sincerely,
Michelle Garven, Ph.D.
March 27th, 2020 3:30PM
Dear TWC Families,
On March 24, Governor Evers issued a "Safer at Home" order through Friday, April 24th. This order means that the earliest schools could reopen is Monday, April 27. Please keep in mind, a future order from the governor would supersede that timeline. As our traditional spring break comes to a close and learning resumes on Monday, please note the following:
Learning from Home:
Thank you for your continued support with this process. Our staff is excited to learn with your child in new ways, using new technologies. We understand that everyone is wearing multiple hats right now. We are here to partner with you in this experience and we appreciate all that you are doing.
Communication:
Our families have shared that too many emails and sources can be cumbersome and confusing. You can expect most communication to come from your child's classroom teacher. Ms. Cook will continue to send her Wednesday communications. Items of great importance will be communicated by an alert from the district and also via the district website, facebook and twitter pages.
Meal Pickup:
Our meal pickup will continue in the neighborhood Monday - Friday during the lunch hour. The meal pickup is available for all families in the community. For more information, please visit our website at https://www.trevorwilmotschool.net/ .
Thank you for the work you are doing to keep your family safe and calm. Please know that I have you all in my thoughts during these uncertain times. We are a strong wolfpack together.
Sincerely,
Michelle Garven, Ph.D.
March 20th, 2020 4:00PM
Dear TWC Parents,
As our community and country continues to respond to the global health crisis, I want to thank our TWC families for supporting our staff in their efforts to plan for learning at home. Over the last week, we have all experienced a variety of emotions as we continue to monitor the crisis, care for our loved ones and switch to this new "normal".
Next week, we begin our traditional spring break. Our "virtual" offices will be closed and the school building will continue to remain closed. I know many of you were looking forward to this special vacation time with your distant families and have now shifted your plans to accommodate the changing conditions. I share in your disappointment. I hope you can find joy and happiness in the adventures you are creating with your families at home during these trying times.
On behalf of our entire staff, I want to thank you again for your compassion and patience with this process. We are looking forward to supporting you in this new learning environment when we return from break on Monday, March 30th.
Sincerely,
Michelle Garven, Ph.D.
March 17th, 2020 2:00PM
Dear TWC Families,
"Learning at Home" lessons are now available at the Curriculum , Instruction, and Assessment page on our website. Teachers will also be emailing details to you by the start of the school day Wednesday, March 18th. Thank you for your support in continuous learning for our students. Please contact your teachers with any questions. We would appreciate you providing feedback here as well, if you'd like. This will help us all with our new virtual learning format.
Wishing you well,

Dear TWC Families,
We realize that many families count on TWC’s school lunch program to provide a healthy breakfast and lunch for their students during the school day. We will be providing students with breakfast and lunch options during the state mandated school closure.
Partnering with our food service provider Taher, Dousman Bus Company, and The State Food Nutrition Program, we will begin bagged meal delivery to locations throughout our school district starting on Wednesday, March 18th and continue to deliver through Friday, March 20th. After Spring break, we will resume delivery of bagged meals during the week of March 30th to April 3rd.
Bagged breakfasts and lunches for children will be delivered in coolers to 13 locations throughout our school district. There is no charge for the meals.
Any family who wants bagged breakfast and lunch for their child(ren) are welcome to pick up meals at one of the 13 meal drop off locations. If there are not enough bagged meals at your location, we ask that you let us know how many more meals are needed using the paper taped to the cooler, or by calling 262-862-2356 x1107 and leaving a message, or emailing Ms.Cook at: cookmr@twc.k12.wi.us.
All coolers will be picked up and returned to the school approximately 30 minutes after drop off. This will make it possible to deliver meals to each of the 13 locations, the next day.|
Sincerely,
Melissa Cook, Principal

District Administrators Message: Coronavirus Update
Dear Trevor-Wilmot Parents,
As coronavirus continues to spread in our state, I know we all have growing concerns about the safety of our families. I share your concerns. I also know that during stressful times it is difficult to differentiate rumors from fact. I would encourage you to continue to stay informed by following the information provided on our website. There is a red banner across the top with a link to the Latest news & updates. This page along with our Facebook and Twitter feed will continue to post information as it becomes available.
The Trevor- Wilmot staff is working together on March 16th and 17th to prepare for learning at home. I know that this task may not be easy as every family is in a unique situation. Please know that our staff is here ready to support you. Keep in mind, there will also be more information coming from Mrs. Cook and your child’s classroom teacher.
Thank you for your patience and partnership as we work through this crisis together.
Michelle Garven, Ph.D.
3/13/2020 7:30pm
Dear TWC Families,
Together, we are facing an unprecedented health crisis in our community. We have been in constant communication with the Kenosha County Health Department, which is monitoring the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Today, Governor Evers ordered a mandatory closure of all Wisconsin schools effective Wednesday, March 18. As a precautionary measure against the transmission of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Trevor Wilmot Consolidated Grade School District will be closing effective immediately.
Beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, all school building activities including school day instruction, before and after-school activities, all athletic and extracurricular practices, competitions, and weekend events are canceled.
We know that closing our school will impact all families, and we recognize that working families depend on the consistency and predictability of supports and services our school offers. This includes educational, emotional, and nutritional supports. We also recognize there are still a lot of unknowns about this disease and just how prevalent it is in our community. As novel coronavirus (COVID-19) testing becomes more readily available, these cases will likely increase. While children appear to be more protected from extreme symptoms, adults, including our educators and employees, need support and protection as well.
At this time, we are notifying our families regarding the closure. By March 18, we will be sending further communication regarding implementing learning at home and answers to additional questions. More information will be communicated as soon as it is available.
Dr. Michelle Garven
3/13/2020 6:30pm
Dear TWC Families,
Trevor Wilmot Consolidated Grade School District will be closed starting March 16th, 2020 through April 6th, 2020. Additional information will be forthcoming on when to pick up student learning materials.
Thank you,
Melissa Cook
Coronavirus Update
3/12/2020 2:15pm
Dear TWC Families,
With the continued threat of the spread of Coronavirus, we are updating plans and making adjustments to our everyday protocols to protect our students, staff and families. As an added level of prevention, students may carry their own hand sanitizer with them during the school day. Keep in mind that the Center for Disease Control continues to recommend hand washing as the most effective method to prevent illness.
All Westosha and Wilmot K-8 and High School District Administrators will be meeting on Friday to discuss the alignment of our Infectious Disease Protocols and Pandemic Plans should there be a need to close schools for an extended period of time. TWC has a plan in place for learning at home should the need arise. Families would be notified of that plan via email if it is needed.
While we do not want to frighten our students nor families, I want to assure you that we take our responsibility to address the safety of our students and staff very seriously.

TWC Equity Absolutes
3/10/2020
Trevor-Wilmot recognizes the need to ensure all students have equal opportunities for success in school. As part of our work in this area, the district has created a document containing our, "Equity Absolutes." These are strategies we are committed to, which will work to ensure equity for all learners at Trevor-Wilmot School. Our "Equity Absolutes" were created by a committee of individuals, including teachers, community members, and administration, who reviewed our school data as it relates to equity. This work was done over the course of a school year in order to focus our efforts moving forward as we work to ensure every student has what they need to be successful. Please take a moment to look them over. The "TWC Equity Absolutes" can be found under the "District" drop down menu.
STRANGER DANGER - Salem District
03/04/2020
Dear TWC Families
This is an important safety alert for Parents/Guardians. On March 4, 2020, a student was approached by a stranger in a gray four-door sedan while waiting at a morning bus stop on 84th street in Salem. The stranger, said to be a white male with brown hair, asked the student to get in his car. Our student did not engage, ran for safety, and alerted school personnel. Hand Sanitizer Update
03/02/2020
Dear TWC Families,
I am pleased to announce we will be putting hand sanitizer back throughout the school. We had originally removed it, as we were problem solving the reason behind several cases of skin irritations in 3rd and 4th grade. It was determined the hand sanitizer was not the culprit. Washing hands with soap and water is the best way to clean hands, as it reduces the amount of all types of germs and chemicals. If soap and water are not available, using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol can help prevent illness and spreading germs to others.
Wishing you good health,
Rae Anne, School Nurse
Health & Safety Protocol Update
03/02/2020
Dear TWC Families,
We regularly review our policies and protocols to make sure Trevor-Wilmot is aligned with best practice. We have re-evaluated health and safety protocols in light of the Coronavirus outbreak, as well as an aggressive Influenza season. We want to make parents aware of our fever protocol. Students may not return to school until they are free from fever for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications such as Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin).
Trevor-Wilmot recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of germs.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Stay home when you are sick. Do not return to school until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your sleeve. Throw tissue away and wash hands.
Wishing you good health,
Rae Anne Niles, School Nurse
